Sunday Funday!

I needed a nice relaxing weekend.  Only leaving for a couple hours to go to the gym, and Fro Yo lasts night.

I stayed "late" at work almost all week.  I say "late" because part of me is still used to a late night meaning closing a store and not getting home till at least midnight.  Late night now means staying at the office until 6:30/7.  I guess it's even though, 10 hour days are 10 hour days whether they start at 9am or 3pm.

This weekend,  the roommate has been addicted to House of Cards.  It's a TV show made just for Netflix streaming.  He loves it, for me it's slowly growing on me.  I will say it's a pretty scandalous political thriller.

We also tried to watch The Words.  It was horrible.  So boring.  We didn't even make it half way through it.  Bradley Cooper wasn't worth it.  And Seven Psychopaths.  Again ugh.  Way to let us down Rotten Tomatoes!

Well today I saved the weekend by making pancakes....with Nutella.  I was craving chocolate chip pancakes but sadly, I didn't have any chocolate chips.  But i did have a HUGE jar of Nutella.

These babies saved the weekend.  Next time I want to make them with bananas or some sort of strawberry compote.

Well, Cheers to the rest of the weekend!

Today I took my second yoga class.  Not as hard as the first time but it still kicked my ass.

I love Yoga To The People classes are a suggested donation which is great.  I always try and give a little. And if you're a beginner like me you can rent a mat for $2, I am going to try and buy my own mat before the next class.

Third time's a charm...

Is anybody out there?  Hellooooo....

No?

That's okay.

I've decided to start this bad boy up again.  Just for myself.  It's the start of a new year and a lot of things have been changing and/or I'm trying to make a lot of changes.

I got a new job!  Wooohoooo!
I''ve started working out again.  It's time to get on track and make some life changes.  I'm so inspired by some of my friends that it's time to be confident with myself.
I want to start writing more again.  Whether it be here or for myself.  It's something I've always enjoyed doing.  I think starting to use this again will help me to do that.  I don't want to hold myself to a updating schedule.  At least not yet.  Maybe if I keep it up for more then a month.

Anyway.  Here are some picture from this past weekend.  It was my roommate's birthday the big THREE OH.  Although, if you ask him he'll tell you that he doesn't care about turning 30.  Secretly I think that he's relieved to be out of his twenties.  Like now he'll be taken more seriously.  Power to you!  I hope when i turn 30 I feel the same way instead of wanting to repeat my 19th birthday year after year.  But for now I'll enjoy my quarter life crisis.

We had a couple of our friends over for dinner and an entertaining game of Cards Against Humanity, which I won...still not sure if this is a good thing or not.

We also made some yummy food!

Here are some Instagrams:

Which was blended with black beans and made into this!

I also made him a red velvet cake from scratch.  I only got a picture of the mess that proceeded the cake...

I also made these Nutella doughnut/turnover thingers...I'm not really sure what to call them.  But they were AH MAY ZING!

All in our formal dinning room...aka..our liviing room...

I wish I took picture of the cake once it was baked but we ate it all...I know...not a great start to the eating right thing, but hey your roommate only turns 30 once!

I also wished I got a picture of the inside of my Nutella things but they were gone so fast....oh well next time because there will definitely be a next time!

Well that's all for now folks!  or just me.... ha

Best Dressed: Oscars Edition! Oh yeah, and some Gaga

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. I've been meaning to update, no really, I have several drafts waiting to be posted. However family obligations split me between NY, MA, and NH. But I'm finally back in the city and away from the several feet of snow that New Hampshire has on the ground right now.

It's been a crazy couple of days. Gaga released her video for Born This Way today. You can watch it HERE at Refinery 29. I have to say I love her message. I think that she is so well spoken and I truly love her confidence when she's making any sort of public appearance. I also have to say, that if I had a body like hers I wouldn't wear pants in public either.

And, just in case you were living under a rock, last night millions of viewers watched The 83rd Academy Awards.

This was the first year I really wanted to see all of the films that were up for best picture. Unfortunately I didn't get to watch them all before The Oscars.

But, who really watches to see who wins these days anyway? I have to say, I didn't think there weren't too many misses. Not that I agree with all of the fashion choices that were made though.

On that note here are the best dressed in my opinion.

Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa. She looked age appropriate, and can I just say I wish I could sketch my dream dress and have a designer make it for me!

Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein. Simple and sleek. I think she was definitely ready to step away from her character in Winter's Bone.

Jennifer Hudson in Atelier Versace. Damn girl, show off your new bod!

Halle Berry in Marchesa.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab.

Natalie Portman in Rodarte

Hilary Swank in Gucci.
Annette Bening in Naeem Khan. She always looks timeless.

Anne Hathaway got to enjoy EIGHT different gowns last night. Okay, seven and a custom made tux. She looked great in all of them! However this Oscar de la Renta was my favorite.

And the worst dressed...

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture.

Nicole Kidman in Dior.

Amy Adams in L'Wren Scott. Although the $1.35 MILLION in Cartier emerald and diamond jewelry that she wore was beautiful it didn't match very well. Plus the cap sleeves were not flattering! I hate saying this because I love Amy Adams I think she looks lovely most of the time.

So those are my picks! Who were your favs of the night? Did you agree with those that took home the Oscar?

Happy Valentines Day...and Top 2 Tuesday

I know, it's been two weeks with out an blog entry from me. I'm sorry. Work has owned me these past few weeks.

ANYWAY. It's Tuesday! Okay, not really. Tomorrow is Tuesday. But you're getting my Top 2 Tuesday entry a day early.

And in honor of last night....Top 2 Favorite Grammy Dresses

J Lo in Emilio Pucci.
HOT DAMN.

Lea Michele in, again, Emilio Pucci.
She's always one of my favs on the red carpet.

And while we're on best dressed, I must take a moment to point out the worst dressed, at least in my opinion.

Rhianna in Jean Paul Gaultier.
I'm sorry but did you go to a Christmas blow out sale and buy all the white garland?

Top 2 Tuesday

Top 2 Things You've Learned About Friendship.

1. Distance doesn't make a difference.
My life is split between two places, New York City and Bumblefuck, Massachusetts. After moving to New York for college this was one of greatest lessons in friendships I have learned. I'm lucky enough to say that one of my dearest friends, Leanna, recently moved to New York. However, three of my oldest, closest friends don't live near me, at all. And I'm lucky if I see them once a year. It's not the quantity it's the quality of time spent with the people you care about. This was one of the hardest lessons for me to learn, and something that I had to hear from a lot of people I thought were my friends after I moved.

2. People Make Mistakes. We're not all perfect. Cliche, I know. There are sometimes that friendship is more give then take. People make bad choices, choose significant others over friendship, say hurtful words. True friends can always forgive.

I've been friends with these girls for as long as I can remember and many of my first memories about friendship involve them. Distance and time apart have only made us stronger.
